Sam Levenson - "Many wise words are spoken in jest, but they don't compare with the number of stupid words spoken in earnest."

What Happens When You Feed The Trolls
Although trolls may be annoying, they aren't very influential! So, it's best just to ignore them.

College's List of "Offensive Words" Is Loooooong
Stupid people want to ban words. The hosts of this show defend banning words and even call people who are against banning words uncreative. I have a hard time taking people like that seriously. Anyone who defends the banning of words isn't that much better than people who burn books. It's just the same kind of attempt to control what we think and what we say.

Advocacy Groups, Lawyers Want Dept. Of Education To Enforce Campus Yik Yak Bans, Encourage First Amendment Violations
Why do people whine so much when people say mean things? I just don't see the big deal. So what if someone is offended by something somebody says? We should NEVER make laws or ban things just to protect people's feelings. As one of the commenters so aptly pointed out: There is no such thing as cyber violence. [Actually I can imagine a couple scenarios where that term might work, but 99% of what people call cyber violence has no violence in it and so the term is pretty much useless and people who use it are mostly just plain stupid.]
These groups want campuses to actively regulate off-campus speech and they're using Yik Yak as their test case. Yik Yak has received lots of bad press for posts made on its platform. Yik Yak doesn't compose the posts or perform any sort of curation. But to these groups -- as well as plenty of misguided school administrators -- Yik Yak is the problem, rather than the racists and sexists who use it.

PayPal Bans Social Network Gab.com After Synagogue Attacker Revealed As User
Modern censorship takes the form of deplatforming, making it impossible to raise the funds to maintain a website which actually allows free speech.
In a letter addressed to Gab CEO Andrew Torba, PayPal wrote: “We are hereby notifying you that we are terminating our relationship with your pursuant to PayPal’s User Agreement. Under the PayPal User Agreement, PayPal, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to terminate your account for any reason and at any time upon notice to you.”

Attack Of The Algorithm
Suppressing content that those in charge disagree with is a difficult to detect form of censorship and what they call "hate speech" is usually the justification.

Brother Nathanael: The monotony of the one-tongued voice withers the soul, atrophies the mind, and the spirit sags from deficiency of diet. But we're living in an algorithmic world... The only solution is to break up the Monopoly of Search owned by Google and its Marxist comrades.
