50 Shades of Grey Inspires Sexual Assault
Women actually do fantasize about being raped. If you don't believe it then all you have to do is read a "romance" novel. Almost all the people who read novels like "50 Shades of Grey" are female and these novels feature lots of rape. The hitch is that in these novels the women are raped by highly attractive men and in reality most rapists don't fall into that category. (Women like fantasizing about being raped by men they would like to rape them, but the problem is that men like that don't actually commit rape. It's sort of a catch-22 kind of situation.) The take away lesson to learn here is that RAPE CULTURE is more of a result of these novels (mostly written by women for women) than anything that actual men do.

cactuspete: To the extent that this so-called "rape culture" even exists, both men and women have contributed equally to it. Having said that, there's no doubt that we're getting into hyperbolics when we use the term "rape culture" and when it comes to hysterics and exaggeration, I admit that we women do outperform you men somewhat. And so what I'll say is that this so-called "rape culture" is a perception that not everyone shares and it may be even more accurate to say that it's more a delusion that some people suffer from.

shadylady: Well put! It's fair to say that rape culture is just a media-induced figment of the collective imaginations of morons stupid enough to obsess over everything that the media tells them to obsess over. I think it's clear that the media is moving forward on an agenda supported by the powers that be to control every aspect of our lives and to monetize anything and everything they can. Exactly how this misinformation about rape culture helps is hard to say, but there's no doubt that it's floating someone's boat!

Feminists: Bill Cosby is a rapist!

Bill Cosby: Is their any evidence?

Feminists: We don't take kindly to evidence around here.

Rolling Stones Magazine Retracts Bullsh*t Rape Story Article
The tendency is to uncritically believe anything someone claiming to be a rape victim has to say. In fact, the mantra is usually something along the ideas that rape victims are revictimized every time someone expresses doubt over the allegations they make. When the prevailing social climate supports false allegations of rape without question, the number of false allegations skyrockets...

UVA Fraternity Plan To Sue Rolling Stone For False Rape Story :thumb2:
The only plus side is that now at least there will be a little more skepticism when it comes to rape allegations. Accusers for far too long have been believed without sufficient scrutiny. Hopefully the fraternity is able to sue the hell out of Rolling Stone magazine.

University Orientation Video for Men
Ain't this the truth! BEST COMMENTS: 1) This was disturbingly accurate. 2) 160% chance of getting raped? That's a conservative estimate. I'm sure it's at least 190%. 3) I thought this was a parody channel. Why are you just putting real college orientation videos on your channel now?

The media has distorted social reality to the point where this satirical presenation seems almost believable. We know that the reality is that rape actually is a rare occurance on college campuses, but the media insists that it's something that happens frequently. Whether the media intentionally twists the truth for the sake of ratings or if they unwittingly give extremists too much air time is hard to say, but the result of these irresponsible actions is obvious.

Duggar Sisters Defend Brother Josh in Sexual Abuse Allegations :smack:
Maybe I'm cynical, but the worst thing you can do is involve law enforcement in these types of situations. They just make the situation worse. They magnify the problem and force everyone to suffer more than is necessary. The only thing worse than law enforcement is the media. Under the pretext of "educating the public" they make big bucks by dragging people through the mud. Meanwhile a large portion of the public is fascinated by the story and in reaction to their own sense of guilt for feeling fascinated they express outrage in order to cover up their own prurient interest in the case. It's a messy tangle of hypocrisy all around. Whether it's the lady newscaster shedding tears and stating that she's been through this sort of thing or the intellectually dead psychologist who shares her pseudo-psychologically BS with the public, they're all just a bunch of opportunists who take advantage of a private situation for personal gain.

A lot is being made over this deposition from 2005. Bill Cosby admitted to furnishing drugs to women, but he did not say that he had drugged them into unconsciousness so that he could rape them. The news media is making it sound like he admitted to much more than is actually the case. I know that they like to sensationalize things, but I think quite a few pundits are exaggerating more than a little the significance of this transcript.
