Darwin Documentary Trailer
This seems like one of those overly stylized hipster documentaries. Not sure if it's worth watching the full-length version or not.

BallaratBob: Hipster documentary about a remote, deteriorating town. Sounds like a recipe for unwatchable! Actually it could be good if it spends less time talking to the residents of the town and more time getting into the history of the town. Those who currently live there are incidental to what is important about the town.

desertrat: Agreed. The current state of Darwin isn't of much interest, although it would be nice if it could be preserved and protected from vadalism. It's the history of the area which is of interest. I like to do the Darwin Falls to Darwin drive every couple years just to check out how things are going in that area. Some neat sites along the way.

Darwin - More Info
Interesting info although the first sentence seems to contain some kind of a typographical error...
South of Darwin in the Coso Range is Darwin where rich silver-lead deposits were discovered late in October 1874. The town was named after Dr. Darwin French, an early explorer of the region. By the end of 1875, Darwin boasted two smelters, some 20 operating mines, 200 frame houses and more than 700 residents. The town reached its peak in 1876 with five furnaces and more than a thousand inhabitants.

cactuspete: Definitely about time for me to do the Darwin Loop again sometime soon. It's been over a couple years for me and it's something I like to do every few years. It's on my top twenty or so list of day trips. Word of warning to anyone planning on trying it. High clearance is needed in a few parts, but most of the loop is fairly smooth.
