Star Wars Canyon (December 2018)
Anyone who travels from Trona to Lone Pine via Panamint Valley knows there's often tons of people parked at the Father Crowley monument waiting for the jets to fly down the canyon.

Star Wars Canyon C-17, F/A-18's, and Thunderbird
Also known as Jedi Canyon, but the official name is Rainbow Canyon. The Father Crowley Overlook is located east of Lone Pine on Highway 190 and just a few miles inside the DVNP boundary, but still west of Panamint Springs.

Low Level
Here's what it looks like from the pilot's point of view. This video starts by Lake Isabella and follows the Kern River for awhile. Then it hops over the Sierras down to Lone Pine and then over the Darwin Plateau before dropping down Rainbow Canyon and into Panamint Valley. All in a little over three minutes!

The Phantom Transition - F-4 Phantoms In Star Wars Canyon [4K]
I can't see waiting around and hanging out just to see some jets fly by, but apparently many people have nothing better to do.

HORNETS NEST - DEATH VALLEY 4K
Locals often roll their eyes :roll2: over this kind of thing since we see it all the freakin' time, but some people get really excited...

The jets definitely get old, but what's even worse is driving to Lone Pine via Panamint Valley and getting stuck behind some dipstick in an RV going 25 mph on a stretch of road that 45 mph is no problem. As far as I'm concerned the highway between the Olancha turnoff to Panamint Springs should be closed to RVs.

CrustyOldFart: I like your idea about closing that stretch of 190 to RVs. That's actually a very good idea. RVs and narrow curvy roads don't mix!

Slate Range Crossing can be pretty bad too when it comes to RVs and oversize trucks. I've gotten stuck behind slow drivers a few times. I don't need that kind of aggravation!

Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk
Interesting factoid from WikiPedia:
In 1964, Pyotr Ufimtsev, a Soviet mathematician, published a seminal paper titled Method of Edge Waves in the Physical Theory of Diffraction in the journal of the Moscow Institute for Radio Engineering, in which he showed that the strength of the radar return from an object is related to its edge configuration, not its size.
