Nevada quake rattles Eastern Sierra
Does anyone happen to recall any of the largest earthquakes in this area during the last twenty years or so? It seems like we're probably due for a big one sooner or later!
A 5.2 earthquake centered 44 miles west of Tonopah, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, was felt throughout the Eastern Sierra at ten minutes after 4pm Tuesday. Bishop residents who contacted USGS said they were told the quake was centered 69 miles northwest of Bishop.

Shaking and stirring end year
There's been a bunch of little earthquakes throughout the region during the last week. That's probably pretty normal, but apparently the number was a bit greater than usual. Otherwise, maybe the Daily Insufficient just couldn't think of anything else to write about!
The rumbling took the afternoon off and kicked up again at 6:32 p.m. Wednesday with a 1.4 magnitude quake centered one mile deep and located approximately 18 miles northwest of Trona.

There was a small quake down in Los Angeles on Saint Patrick's Day. Apparently it occurred during a time that news shows were on air and so news anchors experienced it live on television. The quake was only a 4.4, but a couple of the anchors were a bit startled to say the least!

5 most powerful recorded earthquakes
I thought I'd shake things up with my first post ever on this forum. I've been lurking for months and finally figured out that I had to follow the directions in order to get an account! Imagine that. Following the directions actually works!

Yellowstone supervolcano sparks fears of eruption after melting park's roads
This may not be local, but it's seismic in a big way. It doesn't sound like an actual eruption is likely, but if one were to occur, it would be cataclysmic!

Scripps seismologists predict 6.7+ magnitude earthquake in San Diego
San Diego is close enough for us to potentially feel it if it's big enough and who knows how the faults between here and there will interact. There could be some humongous chain reaction of earthquakes that sends California (or what is left of it) floating out to sea!

Is Yellowstone The Next Big Eruption In 2016?
The worst case scenario on this one is pretty grim, but even the most likely scenario is something that would be a major inconvenience at the the least. Sooner or later...
