It's amazing how this thread has focused so much on football when the original post didn't even mention football, but school and football seem to go together in this town and lots of other towns for some reason. So, yes, mrgreen, it is an amazing coincidence that two news clips were put out on the same day more or less echoing what CrustyOldFart had to say. Even more coincidentally, I notice that both were put out by ABC news. Could ABC be conspiring to put an end to youth football?

Trona girls b-ball's win streak fueled by smarts
Good athletes and good coaching seem to have yielded great results!
Since a loss at Silver Valley on Dec. 17, Trona hasn't tasted defeat on the hardwood. The Tornadoes haven't lost since the beginning of the new year, a stretch that includes seven straight victories to start league play. Their success starts with defense. "We're able to put together different defensive schemes and strategies — it seems to be working for us and they pick it up really quick," Tuckness said. "We're fortunate that way and that's why we've been somewhat successful."

The girls BB team is very lucky to have such a talented coach. They'd be in trouble if they wound up with one of those local yahoos who thinks he/she knows how to coach when they don't! BTW, the girls team won their game against Immanuel Christian by a score of 59-49. Play off games have yet to be announced.

wildrose & cactuspete: It's nice to see the girls' team do so well. I wonder if any of the playoff games will be be played here in Trona. Best of luck to all of them. It's exciting to think that a local team is doing so well!
