SOUNDS LIKE A DYSFUNCTIONAL SITUATION AT THE SCHOOL
drdesert wrote:The important insight to realize here is that teachers who are willing to target other teachers as described here will eventually turn around and do the same to students who they don't like. Call it workplace mobbing, bullying, harassment, gaslighting, or whatever. The bottom line is that its a pattern of behavior and there's an endless need for victims and those who do nothing to stop it and intercede on behalf of current victims are likely to eventually become victims themselves.

Pathetically weak leadership is the issue here if I am to believe everything I've heard. Between board members with axes to grind, a spineless superintendent, and a principal who according to various stories is compromised, it's a disaster! These so-called "Mean Girls" and "Rodeo Clowns" have filled the power vacuum and are pulling strings in a patently corrupt manner.

Going to HR is not very good advice. A good lawyer would be a better choice! HR is likely to be in on the scheme to harass the employee. That's not to say that HR is not worth a try, but it's unlikely that HR will do anything about the situation. It's a cop out to suggest that a victim should get a new job. It's important to hold gas-lighters, harassers, bullies, and the like accountable. As for tough bosses, that's possible, but often bosses are in on the scheme and so that person needs to be held accountable also.

panamint_patty: Sounds like a disaster ready to happen! Not that violence is a solution to the problem, but this is the sort of situation which can ultimately lead to a seriously unpleasant outcome. Lack of leadership seems to be the issue. Trona is full of low-IQ thugs and if they are allowed to push their weight around they will, and that kind of downward spiral can quickly get out of hand. Small towns can by extremely unhealthy and dysfunctional, and Trona is one of the worst in existence. The psychological inbreeding which goes on in a disaster zone like Trona is extremely toxic. That's one of the reasons why the high school should close down and students should be sent to the high school in Ridgecrest. It's like a festering sore and the puss must be extricated before the infection gets to the point where it can no longer be contained! It's better to prevent a violent situation than to have to deal with one and as they say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Wake up, M____, I think I got something to say to you
Facebook has been active this last week or so with all sorts of weird gossip. This song was brought up several times with the name changed. Apparently one of the teachers was tutoring students in person at her house or at student houses during the shutdown period when school was conducted online and the rumor is that she.... ummm.... sort of crossed the line. There are details and names which I'll leave out, but she is considered to be one of the so-called "Mean Girls." Another one of the "Mean Girls" reportedly hugs kids at school and some of the hugs are reportedly a little too intense. One person in the Facebook group described the hugs in graphic detail and stated that the superintendent stood and watched. The joke was that it was hard to tell if he wished that he was the one getting the hug from the adult woman or if he wished he could hug the child as intimately as was the case, but either way it was a funny joke in theory, but a major issue in reality.

twister: I think the key line in that song is:
All I needed was a friend to lend a guiding hand
But you turned into a lover

I heard the same rumors about both teachers and the superintendent. Pathetic!

I've talked to a couple people who work at the school and they say that morale has never been so low. The superintendent has absolutely no charisma whatsoever and people openly speak very disrespectfully about him. The principal who actually has some charisma is treated like nothing more than a spokesperson for the worthless superintendent. It's hard to imagine how things could get much worse, but the expectation seems to be that things will get much worse.

Dysfunctional and Trona go together like flies on crap. That's why I got the hell out of Dodge years ago, but I still keep in touch with friends who live in Trona and Ridgecrest and everything I hear is that it's a :whack02: kind of situation!

That's pretty much right, but there are some good people in Trona, it's just that the worst of the bunch wind up with too much influence and that's why Trona has become such a shithole - to use a term popularized by President Trump. The problem is that there are far too many outspoken, but incredibly stupid people in Trona. They display a belligerent attitude towards anything showing the slightest sign of intelligence. There's a total lack of politeness, consideration for others, and basic courtesy. And that's why so many people move out of Trona and have nothing positive to say about the people there. It's true that there are lowlife jerks no matter where you go, but Trona has become somewhat of a Mecca for that kind of inferior life form.

The way I heard the story was that a kid was dry-humping the teacher while waiting for his ride after school as the buses were loading. The superintendent was gazing in the direction of the teacher being dry-humped by the little boy and he had the most perverted expression on his face. It would be his responsibility to reprimand the teacher, you'd think, but apparently he liked what he saw! To be a little more graphic without getting pornographic, the teacher was actually holding the kid so that his legs were wrapped around her waist and they had their arms around each other. Normally you'd tell a couple engaged in such activity to "Get a room!" but this is an adult and child we're talking about here!

wabbit: Sounds like a mess to me. I heard the same stories on Fakebook along with names and more details. The stories sound credible to me, but then again people on Fakebook tend to get overly dramatic. There are people who are addicted to outrage and people who like to provoke outrage and so what people say during Fakebook chats must be taken with several grains of salt. But even if the transgressions described didn't cross the line into sexual abuse territory, it sounds like COVID19 safety guidelines were ignored. If a teacher actually hugged a child as described (and the story is that she has hugged several) and the superintendent observed such behavior and did nothing, then child endangerment charges against both would be appropriate.

As for the story about the teacher who tutored students in person at their houses or her own house, the same basic conclusions apply. Maybe there was sexual abuse and maybe there wasn't, but it's clear that COVID19 safety guidelines were ignored and that would justify child endangerment charges. On top of that, teachers have an increased obligation to follow COVID19 guidelines compared to civilians since they are public employees who are sworn to protect the health and safety of children at the school they work at. Probably both teachers and the superintendent should have their credentials revoked.

shotgunmary: If the superintendent is involved, then it's not likely that anything will be done. People can try to contact the county, but San Bernardino tends to sweep things like this under the carpet. You're right that those involved should lose their credentials, but someone has to file a complaint with the county or state and then someone at the county or the state has to be responsible and take care of business. I've heard the same complaints on Facebook, but most of the people doing the complaining are not insiders. The school board will protect their beloved superintendent and the superintendent isn't going to do anything about the teachers involved in this situation since they are also insiders. It'll take a miracle for justice to prevail in this situation.
