The dangers of these substances have been known for a long time, but they are quick and convenient ways of solving common problems and they make a lot of money. Chemical solutions (and I mean that in both meanings of the word solutions) to problems almost always have serious side effects and negative consequences.

panamint_patty: Most of the vegetables that are easy to grow in the desert aren't the ones I like the most. Setting up and tending a garden, keeping the plants safe from pests, and all that is a lot of work and it's fun on a small scale, but it doesn't save any money when it comes to buying groceries! Maybe in a different climate, but not in the desert!

LA bans Roundup
Banning substances like this makes perfectly good sense to me. I've never used Roundup and I never will!

Harvesting California Desert Chamomile - Medicinal Herb
At this moment this channel has ZERO subscribers and only this one video with only five views. However, they sound like they mean business. Hopefully they are successful!
Help Create Trona's First Community Garden! Watch us turn this barren desert land into a community garden, and be part of it too! Become a "virtual" gardener and receive garden goodies by donating! Here in Trona, the only "grocery store" we have is a family dollar. One must drive 30 mins to get fresh produce, and most people here can't afford organic choices. With your help we can feed our community the quality veggies and fruit at cost. You too will receive organic goodies as a virtual gardner!

twister: The channel is still at zero subs, but that's some great chamomile! It's too bad that more youtube viewers aren't impressed by chamomile. I'll try to leave a like on that video next time I sign in to youtube.

Artichokes
Very healthy looking plants. Definitely worth a try!
According to Dave's Garden artichokes need soil that is slightly acidic. So, the soil the artichoke in the video is growing in must have been heavily amended.

Gardening while in quarantine
Gardening is good for the soul. People need to get in touch with nature and this is a great opportunity.
