3) Turk's Cap Lily
4) Sweet Rocket (Hesperis matronalis)
5) Coral Bells
6) Chinese Meadow Rue (Thalictrum delavayi)
7) Sweet Woodruff
8) Pittosporum
9) Plantain Lily
10) Holly

Dame's Rocket: Edible & Other Uses
This plant was listed as Sweet Rocket up above. It's a hardy plant that can be invasive in some locations.

Many lovely plants and a few of them might survive on the north side of a fence, wall, or house with a little extra water.

Plants that will grow under trees
The ajuga and bergenia look really good to me! The bergenia is supposed to be drought-tolerant and so that's a double bonus!

Growing Bergenia
The bergenias are quite nice and they are said to be quite hardy. They don't deal well with heat though and that may be an issue. Maybe planting them on the shady side of the house would work.

It should be possible to grow plants with very little water on the north side of most houses. That way we can have plants and not yards which are completely barren.
