:talk: :talk: LOWER WILDROSE ROAD OPEN :talk: :talk:
You can drive to the kilns, but not any farther due to snow and ice.

Nearly 33% of California rural roads are in poor condition :curse:
No kidding!!! The problem is that the solution is more often than not to close the roads instead of to repair the roads!

dzrtdwg: That's certainly been the case around here. So many roads closed as a result of radical environmental policies. I'm in favor of wilderness areas, but wilderness areas should include roads so people can actually enjoy them! I'm sick and tired of environmentalists kicking us out of the back country. At the same time I have no tolerance for dipsticks who ruin things for everyone else by engaging in destructive activities in the back country.

You got that right! Way too many dirt roads have been closed in recent years and our access to remote sites has been cut way back. It's almost like some kind of conspiracy to reduce our freedom to travel.

Clearing Hazardous Rocks in San Bernardino County - Caltrans District 9 News Dash #6
Lots of people were wondering what was going on. It seemed like traffic was stopped for awfully long stretches of time on certain days. I heard lots of complaints and even had to stop a time or two.
Would you walk a mile for me?

Cracks in the road prompts full closure of Highway 178 in Bakersfield
That's the main road between Lake Isabella and Bakersfield. I'd have to look at the map to see what the shortest alternate route would be.

Highway 178 closures through the Kern River Canyon
Sounds like the road won't be fixed anytime soon. In fact, the snow melt will probably make things worse over the next few weeks.
