CrustyOldFart: So, I did a little fact-checking on your claims and you are correct according to weather dot com, but if we go by a couple other weather sites, then there were a couple days just a degree or two below 100F during August and the beginning of September that were listed as below 100F. It all depends on who you listen to. I think the shortest consecutive run of days hitting 100F or more was 67 going by weather underground data.

Mid-Summer Consecutive Days At 100F Or More Count June: Last two days (2) July: All 31 Days (31) August: Six Days so far (6) --------------- That's 39 days and counting! Last year we made it to 85 days in a row. Will we beat that mark this year?

Boy impaled by beach umbrella This is not something that I would have expected to be a problem. It's likely that beach umbrellas with sharp ends are not even allowed in California and so this might be more of a problem on the east coast.

NOPE! August 11th came in at 99F and so we had 10 days for August. That totals out to 43 days for 2019 That's the least number of consecutive days over 100F in recent years: 2016 --> 77 2017 --> 50 2018 --> 85

Tourist Dies in Death Valley Amid Scorching Summer Heat Heat kills! Drink plenty of water and don't push yourself too hard when it's really hot.
A tourist has died while visiting Death Valley National Park amid blazing summer heat. The cause of death is being investigated by Inyo County authorities, but the Park Service notes Death Valley has been having temperatures above 120 degrees. It was the second death in three days in the Mojave Desert park, where two of the most common reasons for emergency responses are single-vehicle accidents and heat illnesses.
