camel: Considering the last two idiots to occupy the White House and the current list of candidates, nothing surprises me anymore. Instead of the best and the brightest, we're stuck with the hopeless and the ineffective. Politics as usual, I suppose. As for Reagan, he was pathetic, but that's what you get when you put an actor into office.

What strikes me about the episodes of Death Valley Days that I've seen is how little of Death Valley actually gets shown in the show. It's more like a crappy soap opera than a real outdoor adventure show. Hollywood back in the 1950s was even cheesier than it is today!

Death Valley Days - Sego Lillies (1953), Full Episode, Western TV show
Mormon pioneers settle St. George in a rather melodramatic manner! :roll2:

Roy Rogers : Git Along Little Dogies ( 1940 )
The vocal harmonies on the chorus are a little too Hollywood, but otherwise the simple presentation is refreshing.

drdesert: Old cowboy movies ususally seem so fake. They sang in perfect harmony and they always wore clothes that just never seemed authentic. It wasn't until the 1970s that movie makers became concerned with authenticity, but now it seems that the trend is toward political correctness and the portrayals have become ridiculous again.

RIO BRAVO My Rifle, My Pony, and Me/Cindy - Dean Martin, Ricky Nelson and Walter Brennan (legendado)
Nothing to do with Death Valley Days directly, but it's the same general kind of western although it was mostly filmed in Arizona.

Don't leave out Angie Dickinson!

sandman: Your post is most appreciated. I think this scene captures many of the feelings we have for the beauty and nostalgia of the Mojave Desert and Death Valley area even if the movie was filmed in the Sonoran Desert (other than the studio scenes like this, of course).

The Lone Ranger | Hot Spell In Panamint
Most of this looks like Alabama Hills and despite the title it does not appear that any of it was filmed in Panamint Valley.
