Porn Star Commits Suicide After Cyberbullying
Saying mean things and criticizing someone is not really cyberbullying and if it is, then cyberbullying is a total joke. It's cyberbullying when you cross the line and actually slander someone or spread false rumors or threaten someone. In this case people called her (the porn star) a slut, which is a mean word for a woman with loose morals. She starred in a porn film and that meets the normal definition of having loose morals. People who are prudes have the right to express themselves and they have every right to be direct and blunt about it even if it causes the object of their derision to feel stressed out. In response supporters of the young lady can be just as mean in expressing counter-opinions and that's all fine and fair. Now if someone spreads a rumor that she gave a donkey a blowjob (assuming that she did nothing of the kind), then that would be slander. If someone threatened to do her physical harm, that would also be illegal behavior. However, saying mean things and being critical are perfectly legitimate activities and should not be illegal in any way. It's called free speech and even if an unstable person commits suicide in response to such speech, there is no way that any kind of law should be made against such speech. Even if the object of derision is a minor, there is no reason not to be mean or bluntly critical from a legal point of view, nor should there be. Free speech is sacred and it's just too bad if some people can't deal with it.

This proves our kids WANT a nanny state
This pretty much puts the nail on the head! The idea seems to be to change the responsibility for the listener's emotional reaction from the listener to the speaker. Thus the speaker can be blamed for anything that "triggers" an emotional reaction in the listener, thereby forcing the speaker to consider every possible way that his words might be misinterpreted in a negative manner. This in effect would silence opposition and make it possible for all the mindless zombies in the world to live blissfully in their comfortable little bubbles of stupidity! Free speech must be protected and this line of attack needs to be recognized for what it is! It's an attack on our basic freedoms and anyone who pushes this line of attack should be mercilessly rebuked and exposed as complete and total idiots!

I'm sick of hearing all this crap about bullying and cyberbullying. I'm beginning to think that we're becoming a county full of whiny little wimps! This nanny state stuff just turns everyone into little pussies. Or maybe the word sheeple works better. I don't know, but people need to stop expecting to be protected from every little thing that bothers them!

ISP Sues Former Customer Over Reviews Claiming His Internet Speed Was Less Than A Third Of What Was Advertised
Funny how sometimes the biggest cyberbullies are big companies. This ISP in Colorado wants to get away with lying and wants to force customers to stop complaining!
:smack:
This appears to be what is sometimes called a SLAPP (Strategic lawsuit against public participation) and so most likely the plaintiff in the case will not only prevail, but the ISP will wind up paying for the legal fees he incurred while fighting the lawsuit. Sometimes our legal system does what it's supposed to do. It's just too bad that seems to be the exception rather than the rule.

Unpopular Opinion: Cyber Bullying
This is amazing. Most of the time you hear politically correct BS on this topic, but this guy throws away the script and does a pretty good job of getting beyond the BS and putting things in reasonable perspective. Cyber Bullying really is a FIRST WORLD PROBLEM. It's right up there with your iPad running out of power because you forgot to recharge it!

CoolChick: I like that guy's attitude. Nice post. Unpopular opinions need to be expressed more often! Even if people express their opinions anonymously, the important thing is that dissenting opinions need to get expressed. Sometimes the only FREE SPEECH is ANONYMOUS SPEECH!

Parents Sued For Kids' Facebook Prank
Sounds more like a joke than bullying to me and this really is a FIRST WORLD PROBLEM as pointed out in the Unpopular Opinion video posted up above. It looks like the media is back at it and busy hyping another non-problem. It would be nice if they focused on REAL problems... but wait... it's actually their job to distract us from REAL problems and so they keep us busy with these non-problems.

Monica Lewinsky Takes Up Cyberbullying Fight
Talk about being an opportunistic parasite!!! Victim of cyberbullying? Not by a long shot. People didn't make jokes about her in order to humiliate her, the jokes were in regards to a news story that she happened to be intimately involved in. She was, afterall, having sex with the president of the USA in a country where that constitutes a major scandal. Now she wants to take advantage of her so-called victimization. Playing the role of the victim sure does pay off in the good ole USA! To be absolutely clear, she was in no way a victim of anything other than her own poor judgement. But with a little spin, she'll be able to cash in big time on her mistakes and indiscretions!

Cyber Bullying Gone Too Far: Toddler With Deadly Disease Called Nasty Names.
This is most definitely NOT an example of cyberbullying. This is just people joking around and sharing their jokes with others online. No harm, no foul! The jokes might be in bad taste and someone's feelings might be hurt if they find out about the joking, but that's a long ways short of cyberbullying. The jokes may be offensive, but no one is harassing anyone.

CactusHugger: Your assessment is accurate. Cyberbullying should not be conflated with spreading internet memes which are in poor taste. The two things are completely different. Cyberbullying is the targeting of someone with threats and direct insults intended to upset the individual. Jokes as described in the TYT video you posted are not sent to the individual shown in the image, but just shared with other people who in most cases don't even know the person in the image. Also the jokes made are not personal in nature. The person might feel bad IF they found out, but the person doing the joking has no intention of targeting the individual.
