The Battle Against the Deadly 'Superbug'
According to this report 23,000 people die each year as a result of CRE (Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae) infections.
Healthy people usually do not get CRE infections – they usually happen to patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare settings. Patients whose care requires devices like ventilators (breathing machines), urinary (bladder) catheters, or intravenous (vein) catheters, and patients who are taking long courses of certain antibiotics are most at risk for CRE infections.

Interesting comments in the video. Seems like everything is being supersized these days.

Regarding the comments left to the video in the first post, I can't say as I was impressed. Here's the dumbest of the bunch:
"Doctor's ties" was that necessary? Should have been simply "clothing." Is this sexist against women for implying doctors all wear ties or sexist against men suggesting only the male doctors are spreading supper bugs? Come on ABC News.

Some people are just obsessed with social issues and can't wrap their minds around anything else and so everything turns into an example of racism or sexism. The level of pickiness it takes to complain about a reference to doctors' ties is beyond obsessional. I realize the OCD is common and I should do my best to ignore people who suffer from it, but it does get annoying...
