Bradley Manning's Military Treatment Comes Before a Judge Manning deserves a medal of honor and he should be monetarily compensated for all he has been through!
'Cypherpunks': Assange book backs privacy protection, power of transparency Assange is a great leader. Hopefully more people will listen to what he has to say!
Why Hacktivists Are Top Targets for Politicians All the hype over hackers in China is just an attempt to fool the American people into accepting further UNNECESSARY restrictions on Internet freedoms!
Why is Bradley Manning's Pleading Guilty? It's ironic that Obama was given the Nobel Peace Prize for doing nothing and that Bradley actually made a real contribution to world peace and yet he sits in prison. Apparently that's how our world works...
Aaron Swartz's Legacy: US media's new system to shield leaks Julian Assange and WiliLeaks provide a model for how journalism should be done in the modern world. Anonymity is incredibly important otherwise people face reprisals. That's true in the every day world and it's even more true in the world of international politics! Anonymity allows people to say how they really feel and to share sensitive information and is absolutely essential for getting beyond the status quo!
Are You Bradley Manning Too? Manning should be treated as a hero. War crimes are serious and he refused to allow our government to get away with committing an atrocity. People should not be jailed for taking the moral high road, but apparently we are a country of moral cowards and we allow our government to jail someone who should be recognized for doing us all an incredible service.
Paul on Snowden: It's a heroic effort Fascist governments consider telling the truth to be treasonous. People who believe in freedom consider Snowden and Bradley Manning and other people who take risks for the sake of liberty to be true heroes.
Operation “Troll the NSA” seeks to jam the agency with nonsense Routinely using keywords which are detected by intelligence agencies is one way to undermine their efforts. The agencies would say that this compromises national security, but they've already compromised our basic freedoms and so turn around is fair play. Another, probably more effective, way to protect our freedoms is to routinely use encryption even for simple messages. Composing messages offline will also help and not using Windows or Macintosh software will be even more effective since both companies work with security agencies.
The idea behind the trolling operation is that the NSA and other government agencies monitor content based on trigger words that could indicate the poster is up to nefarious activities, such as the words “bomb” and “downfall,” and even more simple things like “Manhattan.” In order to cause (in theory, at least) a bit of chaos, the folks behind the trolling operation want the Internet flooded with a message containing those words.
Massive Spying Program Exposed: Demand Answers Now The government needs to follow the law and the law clearly doesn't allow this type of intrusive activity. What I like about the EFF is that they take care of business and get things done. Click the link and you can participate by sending a message to your representatives and hopefully they will actually do what they were elected to do!
A new report in the Guardian shows that the National Security Agency (NSA) has collected the call records of every Verizon customer in America—millions upon millions of call records. This includes every call made, the location of the phone, the time of the call, the duration of the call, and other "identifying information"—for every single call made by a Verizon customer, regardless of whether they've ever been suspected of a crime.
