Why Are Humans Slower Than Most Animals? The ENDURANCE HYPOTHESIS basically says that humans evolved to be smart and to run/walk long distances. That's funny cuz I know a lot of people who are really dumb and can't walk a mile without collapsing!

People With Most Diverse Ancient Human DNA Found How much archaic DNA do you have?
Melanesians retain both Neanderthal and Denisovan ancestry in their genes, according to new research that finds they are about 2 percent Neanderthal and between 3-4 percent Denisovan. This means that Melanesians — people native to Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, West Papua and the Maluku Islands — have the highest degree of archaic human ancestry ever documented.
What is Denisovan DNA? I bet Michio Kaku has some Denisovan DNA in him!

Neanderthals Were Smarter Than We Thought! Which might explain many of the cultural innovations originating in Europe.

cactuspete: Looks like calling someone a Neanderthal is going to turn into a compliment. It used to be an insult suggesting that someone was primitive, but apparently as it turns out many of our more admirable traits and abilities were enhanced through interbreeding with them. Those lacking Neanderthal genes also seem to be those lacking quite a few essential cognitive skills.

Why Don't Modern Humans Have More Neanderthal DNA? Probably also there was a significant overlap between Neanderthal and modern human DNA.

Neanderthals are quite different from the stereotype I grew up with. This thread is pretty interesting. I've learned more about Neanderthals from following this thread than I ever did all the time I was in school!
