Energy independent smartphones would be a great thing. If only coverage would improve to the point that they work EVERYWHERE instead of just around highly populated areas!

Starting Jan. 26, Unlocking a Smartphone Will Be Illegal
The new rules don't apply to your old phone, but any phone purchased after Jan. 26 has these restrictions. Not that it's likely to stop anyone interested in doing this kind of thing!

By decree of the Librarian of Congress? So bureaucrats have the authority to make arbitrary and ridiculous laws now? I know that it's been a long time since the USA has actually been the "land of the free" but this is going way too far!
